Are you looking at RSS count to read a blog?
April 5, 2008
RSS- The feed that shows how many “subscribed” readers you have on the blog. Believe it or not, but if you have been looking at just that to read a blog, I must say you are a fool.
Why do I say that?
RSS feed is basically nothing and it should never judge whether you should or should not read that blog. Many people manipulate their rss feed count just so they can attract more visitors, but if the content doesn’t support the sky rocketing feed count on your site, you are going to make one negative impression.
So, next time if you are reading a blog, read what the person has to offer and see how it makes you feel. For example, today if you go to many high profile blogs, you really don’t see much of quality quality content, it’s just “content” that is there for the sake of being there.
Remember, ideas start at small niches and then they disperse. If you run a large blog, you’ve got a fame to carry, so content can’t have all your energy.
Positives on reading small blogs
- Interact with the author more frequently and easily
- Make a network of friends
- Share knowledge
- Content that is qualitative, rather than quantitative.
