I want a email invitation from the big boys’. I am sure everyone wants to be part of the big exclusive email club, the gmail. Well, just years ago, this so called email club was only available to the people who were ’specially’ invited. However, now that google has just expanded all over, it allows everyone to join. Yep, you don’t need that invitation anymore, it is open to everyone.

What’s new in gmail compare to others?

Well, as gmail grows, google thinks it handle infinite users, and it has very powerful spam tools to protect itself. Comparing gmail, with its rivals yahoo, hotmail, Gmail groups messages in conversations, containing the original mail and all responses. When a new message in the thread arrives it moves to the top of the list and in boldface. In addition, the overall structure is very fast and simple. Unlike hotmail, and yahoo everything seems slow when opening and editing mails.

In addition, google offers a variety of applications with its Gmail account. They offer a built in excel, word, and even chatting. The chat system has a option where you can chat within the browser, or separately download the software. Also, it gives users a grand total of 2.8 gigs of space, and to be honest that’s just too much , but hey why not use it? I used about 3 percent of it, guess I’ll need to get more.

New tweaks’
The new update in google recently allows users to upload large attachments which is up to 20mb. That’s pretty good for sending in large amount of pictures, video clips, bunch of random stuff. Also, there is a option where it is called the gmail drive. It’s a drive, that you can upload files and download from your own emails off your email. So, technically its a virtual drive connected from your computer to gmail. Quite handy, if you ask me. You can download Gmail Drive Also, there is a gmail notifier which gives users the option to be notified, when a mail is received. This is helps you know when you have mail without having to rechecking every 20 minutes. Download notifier here
