Sony’s Playstation 3 barely surviving?
June 16, 2007
The Playstation 3 had a pretty nice launch in November 17, I believe in the United States. But it hasn’t done so well after the first few months for its competitors such as the Nintendo Wii had better capabilities than what the former one had and for a cheaper price. As a gamer, I adore the graphics the Playstation 3 has its games; you can see every detail in everything when you play. The only negative issue the console has is its price.

Why is it barely surviving???
Playstation 3 had a rough start in the sense that its competitor, the Nintendo Wii launched their console close to their date. It also came out with something most gamers(not hardcore gamers) do not buy the console for: its graphics. The Wii also supported the console’s lack of sales because the Wii had motion-sensor- a whole new edge in console gaming while the Playstation focused on the same old controller-gaming. Probably the biggest reason the Playstation 3 is barely lasting and near its downfall is because of its idea of Blu-ray which had increased the price to $499 and $599. I guess the world isn’t ready yet to experience HDMI gaming; but then again, the price is way more than the average consumer squanders on gaming as demonstrated by former sales in the past few months such as May where it only sold 82,000 units while the Nintendo Wii sold over 350,000 units. Microsoft’s popular Xbox 360 is also beating the Playstation 3.
How does Sony planned to accept its downfall???
Sony denies its downfall by what is has shown in its latest entry. Sony CEO Howard Stringer recently spoke about have a price drop on the product. He hopes this will fix the sales and get back the Playstation 3 on track. Though it might take a while and it probably won’t break the Wii’s lead in dominating the gaming market. But for those obsessed Playstation 3 lovers, you might have luck buying the product for a lower price later in the future.
